The Prevention of the diversion of drugs precursors in the Latin American and Caribbean region (PRELAC) project aimed to strengthen the capacities of national administrative control authorities in Latin America and the Caribbean to prevent the diversion of chemical precursors needed in the manufacture of cocaine as well as other drugs including Amphetamine-type substances. It promoted cooperation and sharing of good practices between countries in the region. PRELAC further aimed to improve information sharing capacity at the national, regional and global level through enhanced registry systems with the administrative control authorities and the provision of IT based information sharing systems; build capacity of administrative and law enforcement authorities; promote a more active role of the private sector and ultimately more public-private sector partnerships to thwart precursor diversion schemes.

The project which ended in February 2016 was implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
